We believe God has called us to participate vigorously in the
Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) by engaging in Missions
work at home and abroad.
God has led us to facilitate the progressive growth of a
strong, vibrant mission-minded Church. Our Vision
is to:
POSSESS THE LAND BY REACHING UNREACHED PEOPLES AND NATIONS.
Background:
The
mission, as wrapped up in the strategic Vision of “Possessing
The Land” for the Lord Jesus Christ, was given to
us in 1995. Since then, it has been expressed year
after year in thematic nuggets.
In 1995, the theme focus was “Setting Our House In
Order.” The thrust of this thematic
expression focused on dealing with the hurting past of
the Assembly, and allowing the Holy Spirit to re-align us
as His people according to His divine purposes. Our
priorities were re-evaluated in light of God’s
comprehensive plan for His Church. The Lord, by His
Spirit, visited us in unique ways, and that assured us
that we were on path to destiny in the Kingdom.
In 1996, we were impressed with the task of “Reaching
Out For Christ.” The Lord challenged us
about the need to regain a passion for lost souls within
our family settings and our neighborhoods. We experienced
a revival of personal evangelism. Harvest classes
to train people in the personal work of witnessing,
including principles of discipling new believers, were
conducted with a significant number of the church
members.
In 1997, we learnt more specific ideas and truths concerning
the vision, “Possessing the Land”. By
the grace of the Lord, we applied the theme by expanding
our 1996 mission efforts.
This resulted in the direct planting and support
of a branch Church in Lusaka’s densely populated area,
Bauleni Compound. Later, another branch Church was
planted effectively in Chiawa (about 150 KM south of
Lusaka), a rural community of 12,000, among highly
superstitious people needing the message of Christ.
A family from the Church, Pastor and Mrs. Sakala were
commissioned as missionaries to tend the young flock,
which has been growing steadily.
In 1998, the Lord led us a stage further to experience how
important it is to stay committed and focused on a given
goal, regardless of circumstances. The theme for
what turned out to be one of the most trying years for
the Assembly was “Possessing The Land - Whatever
It Takes.” The Lord taught us what the
Apostle Paul meant when wrote about “enduring
hardship” as good soldiers of the Lord. The
‘string’ of our corporate life, as it were, was
stretched to the very limit. Yet, by the ever-sufficient
grace of the Lord, we came through. Now look what the
Lord has done!
In 1999, the difficulties of the previous year reached peak
level. However, we begun to experience the Lord's
refreshing touch from under the theme “Possessing
The Land - By Restoring The family." By
the end of the year, it was clear to all of us that God
had been carrying out a deep work of restoration in
individual lives and families.
While ushering us into the new year, 2000, the Lord took us a
step higher, and gave us the theme “Possessing
the Land – by Reaching Unreached Peoples and
Nations.” With this thrust, we were
commissioned to ‘launch into the deep’ and intensify
mission efforts across Africa and the world.
Since then, doors have opened. First in Egypt, where we have
connections with Rev. Saied Ibrahim, Pastor of Faith
Church in Cairo. With an initial commitment of
a minimum of $500 per month, for the next 12 months, we
were honored to assist three Bible college students in
Cairo and pay rentals, which facilitated the planting of
two Churches within Egypt. This development
has fostered a miraculous entry into the 10/40 Window for
us. It is only the beginning. We
believe the best is yet to come!
During the year 2001, the Lord has amplified our thrust to “Possessing
the Land – By Breaking Down Strongholds.”
The
call for a deepened prayer strategy aimed at identifying
spiritual strongholds in all areas of our Mission
endeavor (in Zambia and abroad) rang out.
We were on an assignment to maximize every
spiritual potential in efforts to regain spiritual
territory for the Kingdom of God.
As an expansion, we launched the School of Ministry designed
to prepare people for the work of the ministry. It has
been exciting to see people from other Churches also
enrolling in the school.
We established a Social Action Team charged with
addressing the practical life issues of and providing
vocational training for former commercial sex workers,
through the Operation Paseli, who are now been born
again, bring down holds of prostitution.
On the foreign missions front, the Lord has opened a unique
door into the former Soviet Union, in KIEV, UKRAINE. A
missions trip was undertaken, and the results were
overwhelming. Hundreds of people came to know the Lord as
Savior during 14 days of ministry. The Lord also healed
many people of various ailments. To God be the
Glory!
In the year 2002, God has challenged us in our personal
commitment to “Possessing the Land – By
Revisiting Our Foundations.” The sermons and
the bible studies have focused on getting back to the
basics of the Christian faith. We have been learning from
the experiences of the early church and Christian
martyrs, and fortifying our foundations to shape our
present and our future.
The enemy of our souls has not been pleased, and
has launched assaults on the Assembly.
BUT, The Lord of Host prevails on every hand!
